HK2 Structural Timber Ltd of Askern, Doncaster have rallied to the community needs today and have donated emergency food packs to the elderly of the community in Askern and Campsall. Directors James Houlsby and Andy Kennedy organised food parcels containing bread, milk, tea, biscuits, soup and beans and with a small army of volunteers of staff and friends took to the snow bound roads in their 4x4 vehicles to pass out these necessities to those in the community the most vulnerable in the current weather.
After visiting bungalows on Lowlands Walk, Plantation Close and Norbreck Walk in Askern they moved to Beech Road and Wellingtonia Drive in Askern and the surrounding areas. Many old residents were very pleased to see people and were very thankful for the small bag of essentials we provided. In all we visited 65 properties and all took the free gifts we offered.
One resident, Mrs Anne Carter, 30 Lowlands Walk, Askern is pictured (food delivery 1) with friend of HK2 Stephanie Unitt, taking receipt of the much appreciated food parcel. Another resident Mrs M J Davison of 6 Lowlands Walk, Askern, is pictured with Adele Simpson (food delivery 3). Picture, food delivery 2, shows Director James Houlsby driving one of the 4x4’s with helpers, Jake Unitt, Stephanie Unitt, Nigel Kennedy, Paige Askham and Lacey Wall.
James Houlsby is quoted as saying “HK2 is a local company and wanted to ensure that the elderly of our community were able to make a warm drink and have some warm food during the cold snap and as we know they cannot usually get out in this weather so we thought we’d bring the supplies to them. We will be doing the same again tomorrow in South Elmsall where I live.”
Below are some emails which were sent from very grateful recipients of our food parcels.
