Roof Trusses
Trussed rafters, more commonly referred to as roof trusses, are now specified for the majority of domestic roofs constructed in the UK. The trussed rafter is an individually designed component, engineered to provide a structural frame for the support of roof or similar structures.
Roof trusses are pre-fabricated from the highest quality, stress graded timbers joined together with galvanised steel nailplate fasteners, supplied to HK2 Structural Timber by ITW Industry Alpine – our system provider.
The benefits of choosing a trussed rafter solution are clear:
- A flexible, practical and fully engineered solution tailored to suit your exact design requirements.
- Economy of materials, as a trussed rafter solution uses up to 40% less timber than a traditionally formed roof.
- Reduced labour costs on site, due to the amount of pre-fabrications, the vast majority of ‘cutting-in’ and ‘lining through’ associated with traditional construction is eliminated - releasing your site joiners for more complex areas of your project.
- Quick erection of the roof structure, enabling other trades to begin sooner – giving you a faster completion of the overall project.
- Reduction in site waste, again due to the large amount of pre-fabrications involved.
- Space saving on site, with no need for timber storage and carpentry work areas.
- Massive reduction in costs compared to traditional alternatives, as a result of using less raw materials and requiring less labour time to complete this aspect of the project.
- Accuracy levels of between 0-5mm are achieved, by working with a jig system each truss in the run matches the previous one exactly resulting in a massive increase in build quality.
All our projects are fully designed using CAD software supplied from ITW Industry Alpine – our system provider. These designs are guaranteed by structural calculations (supplied with the project) for you to pass on to the relevant building authorities and architect / building designer.
